Overview & Narrative Setting

Set in a futuristic world where magic and advanced science coexist, UQ Holder! follows Tota Konoe, an ordinary village boy who dreams of moving to the capital. However, his life is upended when a powerful bounty hunter attacks his village, revealing that Tota's guardian is actually the legendary vampire-sorceress Yukiteru's descendant, and that Tota himself has been turned into an immortal. Rescued by Madam Evangeline and inducted into "UQ Holder"—a secret society dedicated to protecting and harboring immortals, supernatural beings, and rogue magicians—Tota embarks on a grand multi-generational journey of discovery. The series blends high-octane supernatural action, classic shonen tournament dynamics, and deep lore echoing its predecessor Negima!, exploring themes of identity, mortality, and the bonds forged across centuries.
